Phantom Charters operates out of Whakatane and specialises in group fishing and dive charters. The business is owned and operated by Ken & Bev Greenhough who operate two surveyed charter vessels:

The Phantom is an 11m by 4 metre beam alloy, Senator Catamaran with a hydrofoil.  The Phantom is fast, stable and has 30 metres of room around the perimeter to spread out while fishing. More space means less tangles concequently more fishing time, also more comfort. There are a private toilet, shower and cooking facilities on board. Phantom has comfortable cabin and flybridge areas that provide shelter while travelling without compromising fishing and diving space. Phantom is surveyed for 18 passengers but we choose to operate fishing trips conservatively with a maximum of 12 lines in the water. Complementary hot savouries and/or cocktail sausages are served with morning and afternoon tea.
 
Greengilz is our 8.5 by 2.5 metre beam fibreglass catamaram we designed and built specifically for charter fishing and diving. It is ideally suited to smaller groups or the economically minded fisho or divers.
 
We pride ourselves on going "above and beyond". Not only are our 1/2 day and whole trips longer than the standard 1/2 day and whole day offered by others but we fillet and bag your fish. Unfortunately if we have given you a bonus "stay out longer" for the same price we may not have time to fillet your fish when we get back in.
 
The "Phantom Charters Catch Guarantee" We also give you a conditional catch guarantee: If you have:
  1. been a good unassuming customer,
  2. taken our ribbing in the good natured way it was intended,
  3. fished with our gear
  4. followed our instruction
  5. Not given us grief
  6. and not caught any legal fish

then we will make sure you have fish to take home even if we have to buy the fish ourselves. This is a conditonal offer/reward made at our discretion so please do not be offended if we do not make the offer.  If you need to ask for the guarantee you most likely have not for-filled our expectations above.
